As this folder is now retiring and sold out, I hadn’t planned to do a video.  However, Stampin’ Up! just announced they will be bringing it back in the 2016 Annual Catalog – yay!  I hope to get a video done soon (done – yay!  see link above).  But in the meantime – this is a photo tutorial I found with some tips for using a “direct to folder” approach: https://anncraig.blogspot.com.au/2015/09/woodland-cars-embossing-folder-male-card.html.

NOTE:  I found it difficult to control the amount of ink “transferring” onto the folder by using the suggested “direct to folder” with ink pads method.  Instead – I used sponges to add ink to specific areas.  I “swiped” Soft suede ink up and down into the areas between the trees, and Night of Navy to just the trees to better define the lines on the trees.

Christmas Cardinal Instructions:

  1. Stamp all images onto circle die cut.  
  2. Stamp bird again onto scrap piece and fussy cut.  Adhere over stamped bird on circle.
  3. Adhere circle to red panel allowing a little bit to hang over the edge.  Trim excess off with scissors.
  4. Adhere red panel to black panel.
  5. Wrap ribbon around completed panel and tie.
  6. Adhere panel to folded card base.
  7. Enjoy!

Baby Wipe Stamping Technique

  • Supplies: 
    • Baby Wipes, Ink Refills (Pool Party, Blackberry Bliss)
  • Instructions:
    • Fold a couple of baby wipes to create a surface large enough for your stamp.
    • Press stamp into the baby wipe to get an impression of the image.  (optionally…you could then use pencil to outline the areas you want to use for each of the colors you’re using.)  
    • Use the ink refills to squeeze drops of ink onto a baby wipe.  For the “maple leaf” image, I put the Pool Party near the center of the leaf and Blackberry Bliss for the rest of the image.  This basically creates an inkpad.  (optional:  just randomly drop images onto the baby wipe in an area large enough for the stamp image.)
    • Tap the stamp onto the inked up baby wipe, then stamp onto Whisper White cardstock (Shimmery White cardstock would work great too)  
    • Let dry

Sponged Texture Card 

Dawn’s Stamping Tips

  • Run 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of whisper white cardstock through Big Shot with Fluttering TIEF
  • Using a sponge dauber, color the raised butterflies with ink (Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Wild Wasabi)
    • I like to ink up my dauber, then take a little off by touching it to a piece of scratch paper.  Then add it to the card with a light touch.  You can always add more color, but can’t take it off.
    • If you do not want the ink to come off the edge of the butterflies, use just the edge of the sponge.
  • Tie 15″ of Whisper White Organza Ribbon around panel
  • Adhere completed panel to folded 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Thick Whisper White cardstock base
  • Stamp greeting with Wisteria Wonder and die cut with Tags & Labels Framelit using the Big Shot.
  • Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Adhere three Rhinestone Jewels
  • Enjoy!

Special Notes:

  • The pinwheel scoring and fold is done for you
  • Each project pack contains a different DSP pattern & coordinating cardstock
  • Only two patterns are shown here 
  • Color coordination for English Garden Designer Series Paper (use this to determine which ink colors you’d like to use with your project papers):
    • Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Hello Honey, Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Whisper White

Dawn’s Pinwheel Fun Fold Instructions:

  1. Place 8″ square of DSP on Diagonal Plate and score at 3″.  Turn 90 degrees and repeat on all four sides.
  2. Cut out “triangle” area where scored lines intersect.  (Tip:  cut a “hair” past the scored line, so the triangle cut out is just a smidge larger.  This helps with the folding)
  3. Flip DSP over and place back on Simply Scored Scoring Tool without the diagonal plate this time.   Straight score at 1″ – only down to the “cut out triangle” area.  Repeat on all four sides.
  4. Fold straight scored lines away from you. 
  5. Turnover and then fold diagonal scored lines away from you.
  6. Fold Pinwheel like folding a box.  Start at the bottom, overlap the left flap and continuing folding in a counter clockwise direction.  Lift and tuck the last fold. (Tip: if counter clockwise doesn’t work, you may have forgotten to flip the DSP over for step #3.  No problem…try folding it clockwise instead)
  7. Enjoy!

NOTE: Your kit will include the black “base” and one of these coordinating colors: pumpkin pie, real red, smokey slate or daffodil delight.  An alternative stamp, I recommend the “car” image from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set.  However – many different images could be used in the the stamping space.  Just don’t stamp too low, as part of the white panel is covered up by the box.

NOTE: The “starburst reverse mask” technique has been completed for you for this card.  All you need to do is stamp the greeting (use Memento Tuxedo Black ink) and assemble the card.

NOTE: I used sponges and refill inks to add ink to the mask/stencil (didn’t want to muddy my inkpads).  I’ll be doing a video with new product on how to do this technique, as the stencil I used for this card was in the Hooray it’s Your Day Card kit and now retired (from the 2015 Occasions Catalog)

Instructions:
  • Run the Silver Foil Sheet through the Big Shot Machine with the medium Butterfly Thinlit.
    • Sandwich from bottom up:  
      • Magnetic Platform
      • cutting pad
      • 1-2 dryer sheets
      • paper/cardstock
      • wax paper
      • die
      • cutting pad
  • Repeat with the Whisper White cardstock 
  • Using the Blendabilities Markers (I used the medium shades), randomly color the Whisper White butterfly.
  • Attach the two butterflies together at the body with Glue Dots.
  • Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, fluffing the wings a bit.
  • Stamp greeting
  • Enjoy!
