Stampin’ Up!’s From the Crypt & Soot Stamping w/a Twist Video

Did you know…when someone wants to borrow something from you (that you didn't even know you owned), that all of a sudden, you NEED to use it yourself?  Well, that was the case with the Stampin' Up! stamp set, From the Crypt

A friend of mine wanted to stamp some Halloween invites.  So I dug out the three Halloween stamp sets I own.  Lo and behold…From the Crypt was calling out to me!  Stamp with me…stamp with me! (Does that ever happen to you?)

Here are the results that feature the Soot Stamping Technique

Skull-Soot

I taught Soot Stamping at my Technique Tuesday Class this month and it was a hit.  However, the twist came from a mistake.  So be sure to watch the video for "the twist" at the end.

Here are some of the gals getting their "soot" on.  Hmmm…that sounds kinda funny!

  1. thanks for the reminder of the soot technique; it’s something that didn’t fly 6 yr. ago, but SU has nicer & more Hallowe’en stamps, that now’s the time to dust the technique off & use it! Thanks for sharing.

  2. WOW, it is stunning, I can’t wait to give it a try,
but I have a question: the glossy side facing up –
after “sooting”I stamp on the other side? Am I right? Please allow my silly question.

  3. Thanks Dawn! I saw someone with this technique at convention, but didn’t have any more cards to swap and forgot all about it until now! I will totally try it out!
