🎄 A Holiday Tradition of Giving

Every December, our family looks forward to a special tradition

…toy shopping at Target with our grandsons and donating toys to Toys for Tots. It’s a highlight of the season—one that fills our hearts with joy and reminds us of the true spirit of giving. From tiny hands to big hearts—Sam & Max have been part of this tradition for many years!

Toys for Tots DOstamping Holiday Traditions

One of our first times was back in 2017, Max and Sam stood proudly with their bags of toys, ready to share with children in need. Fast forward to 2025, and here they are again—taller, older, but still carrying on the same tradition. Oh my…how they’ve grown (in so many ways)!

This year, the KARE 11 tent was bustling with people, so we couldn’t get a photo with a Marine. But that didn’t dampen the joy of the evening. I’m so proud of these boys for embracing this tradition year after year.

What makes this tradition even more special is watching them take over the thought process each year. Sometimes it’s “how many toys can we get with the budget?” Other times it’s choosing gifts for babies, teens, boys, and girls. Their care and creativity in giving has grown right along with them, and it’s been a joy to watch.

Just like stamping, giving is about creating something meaningful—whether it’s a handmade card or a moment of kindness. Both leave a lasting impression.

Traditions like these remind us that giving grows right alongside us. As Max and Sam choose toys with more thought and care each year, I’m reminded that creativity and kindness are both legacies worth passing on.

  1. We did this with our 6 yr old grandson for the first time this year, his idea! It was a really fun experience, having him choose the toys someone would like, and then donating them. It’s fun to see the wheels turn thinking about who will get them. He excitedly said “it could be someone in my class at school and I wouldn’t even know!” This is a tradition we will continue!
