Do you sometimes get "splotchy" stamped images? I sometimes do, especially with solid image stamps. In today's Quick Tip Video, I share tips on getting clear, sharp images for successful stamping.
Actually, this all started when I received a question from a reader…
Question: How do you get such a clear sharp image from your stamps? I always have to make 3 or 4 attempts before I get an image that I'm proud to use. If you have a secret, are you willing to share? The quality of the SU stamps is so much better than others, but
I'm still having trouble. Thanks . . . Vivian
Answer: That's a good question. But here are some suggestions…
1. I do make sure I ink up my stamp really good. (also make sure you your inkpads aren't drying out)
2. I hold my stamp on the paper/cardstock for awhile – like 3-4 seconds
3. For solid stamps – I lightly sand them before using for the first time. It seems to remove the manufacturing film and lets the rubber "grab" the ink better.
But sure enough, no sooner did I respond to her question, I too was having trouble getting a good image for this card.
I kept getting "splotchy" images. It does seem like the larger, more solid the image is, it takes a little more finesse to get a good image. Even with the tips above, you still might have some areas which would tempt you to toss it out. On the video I share some tips for "saving" your splotchy images. Get out your blender pens!

Thanks for the tips. I wish I had known last week. I stamped 117 cards with Season’s Greetings and had a heck of a time getting full coverage. I ended up putting Dazzling Diamonds on the trees to cover up. I won’t be using solid stamps for my Christmas cards again!!
I really enjoy looking through all your great ideas. Your videos are so easy to follow since you speak slowly and clearly. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!
