Welcome to the last of my DOstamping Days of Love Day #7
Today I’m sharing a Floating Heart Card featuring the Online Exclusive Marbled Elegance Suite Collection.
With an assist from our Window Sheets, the heart-shaped focal point appears to “float” off the background, adding depth and dimension.
Create the heart with strips of the Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper. Be sure to check out side B to mix stripes, mini hearts and specked textures with the marbled patterns in tones of reds, pinks and gold. They add the They add the perfect blend of visual interest and dimension.
How’d She DO That? Floating Heart card
- Stamps/Bundles: Hearts of Elegance Bundle– includes dies (online exclusive)
- Paper:
- Real Red (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base score/fold at 4-1/4″)
- Basic White (4″ x 5-1/4″, 3/8″ x 1-1/2″ for sentiment, scrap for flowers)
- Window Sheets (4″ square)
- Gold Foil Sheets (scrap for leaf die)
- Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper (7) strips in a variety of patterns – 4″ long by 1/4″ & 3/8″ widths)
- Ink: Melon Mambo
- Other: Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Paper Snips, Take Your Pick Tool, Stampin’ Seal, Glue Dots, Foam Adhesive Strips
DOstamping Tips:
- For Floating Heart:
- Place 3rd largest Hearts of Elegance die (3-1/4″ wide) onto a piece of 5″ square scratch paper (or larger) and trace the outside of the die.
- Then center 4″ square Window Sheet over scratch paper heart tracing. To keep in place, use sticky notes to secure two corners.
- Adhere strips of Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper to Window Sheet to cover the outline of the heart, leaving a narrow space between each strip.
- Once satisfied with the layout of your strips, die cut window sheet/DSP with the heart die cut.
- For flowers & leaves:
- Stamp flower on white scrap with Melon Mambo ink, stamp again without reinking and die cut.
- Make Gold Foil leaf die cut look more realistic by using the small stylus of the Take Your Pick tool to create “leaf lines”.
- Adhere flowers and gold leaf together with Mini Glue Dots.
- Adhering to card:
- To back of heart die cut, add Foam Adhesive Strips to the areas that are covered with DSP strips.
- Adhere flowers/leaf to front left edge of heart with Mini Glue Dots. Then add a Foam Adhesive strip to back of flowers/leaf.
- Remove backings and attach to white panel
