It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a Color challenge.
Today I reached for the new set You're Sublime. Why? Because I still had it out for my Stamping Club Class last night and, why not? It's such a darn cute set and it gives me an opportunity to practice my Shimmery White Watercoloring Technique. Where I substitute Shimmery White cardstock for Watercolor paper.
Tips for Shimmery White Watercoloring Technique:
- Stamp image with Jet Black Stazon Ink on Shimmery White paper (3-3/4" x 4-1/4")
- Color image using Aqua Painters
- Color submarine with Pacific Point and Real Red
- I prefer to water down the ink colors (in my inkpad lid) to get a lighter color
- I also prefer a drier brush and use a paper towel to pull off excess water before coloring.
- Let dry(this paper dries fast!)
- Then add additional shading
- For water line – I wet it a little bit first, then placed the ink in a jagged line across the top. Then go back and pull ink downward. Repeat until you get the look you want.
I added a little bit of fun with the large circle stickers from the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers and Silver Mini Brads (propeller and Washi Label)
So, what is "sublime"?
In common use, sublime is an adjective meaning "awe-inspiringly grand, excellent, or impressive," like the best chocolate fudge sundae you've ever had. You might describe a spine-tingling piece of music as "a work of sublime beauty."
I thought "my friend" was a perfect addition to the card. I know the most excellent friend that I'm going to send this card to…something to brighten her day!
Go brighten someones day…send a card!~Dawn O
