Fall into Autumn Celebration Week Day 2: Sign Design

Hello crafter friends! It’s day 2 of 🍂 Fall into Autumn Celebration Week, and we’re diving into the heart of what makes handmade cards so magical: techniques.

Today’s card features “direct to stamp” techniques using ink pads and sponge daubers. This creates layered textures, depth & dimension that echo the richness of fall…my favorite season!

  • Layered Stamping + Die Cuts: stamp your images in coordinating fall tones (think Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Early Espresso), then die-cut them for crisp edges and easy placement.
  • Group Embellishments into Clusters: creates visual flow—like a mini bouquet of autumn!
  • See my DOstamping Tutorial below for detailed instructions.

✂️How’d She DO That? Season of Thanks Card

📝DOstamping Tutorial:

  • Adhere Early Espresso DSP to center of folded card base.
  • Trim 1” off top of Cajun Craze banner die cut.  Adhere banner pieces to plaid DSP as shown. Then adhere to card.
  • Create variegated color stamped elements:
    • 2 Leaves/berries: press into Crushed Curry ink; with stamp side up use sponge daubers to lightly add Cajun Craze & Early Espresso inks (randomly for leaves, more specifically for berries)
    • Acorn: Use edge of ink pads to add ink (Crushed Curry for bottom, Early Espresso for top). Use sponge dauber to light add Cajun Craze ink on bottom.
  • Die cut all images. Adhere berries to end of leaves, then adhere leaves behind acorn as shown.
  • Create sentiment by inking “season” with corner of Cajun Craze ink pad and “leaves” with Crushed Curry ink pad. Use sponge dauber to lightly add Cajun Craze & Early Espresso ink to leaf. Breathe on stamp to remoisten. Samp onto Sign Design punch out. Stamp “of thanks” with Early Espresso ink.
  • Arrange & adhere sentiment along with leaves/acorn with Stampin’ Dimensionals as shown.
  • Tie thread into a tiny bow and adhere with a glue dot. Attach dot onto acorn.

Whether you’re a seasoned stamper or just starting out, this Season of Thanks card is a great example of how layering, stamping, and embellishing can turn simple shapes into something truly special.

  1. Love this fall card. I gotta get that sign bundle and make your card. It is so rich and pretty. I still like an old technique of using a baby wipe or something similar that is damp and drop fall colored reinkers on it. Then let the colors mingle and use your stamp o it. Be sure to wrap the wipe in foil if you plan on stamping more so it doesn’t dry out. One time the wipe dried out and was so pretty of a collage of colors I used it as DSP.
