I’m Back…With a Sketch!

Yay – I’m BACK! For those of you that have been waiting…my new blog platform is ready (mostly, still a little housekeeping to do). Much of my content was not able to be transferred over. But I have a new clean look that’s more in line with my DOstamping with Dawn brand.

It will still be a place for you to find out “How’d She DO That?”, DOstamping Tips, creative ideas, tutorials and a touch of papercrafting magic to spark your next project. Grab your stamps and let’s get crafting!

Today I’m sharing a sketch I shared with my DOstamping VIP Newsletter recipients earlier this month. I thought you’d enjoy it too!

🎨 Sketch Details That Delight
  • A Clean and Versatile Design Layout – great for creative interpretations, but simple enough for beginner card makers.
  • The 3-Panel Structure is great for showcasing patterned paper in the center while keeping the top and bottom areas calm.
  • Focal Point adds dimension drawing the eye to the center.
  • Sentiment Placement – bottom right anchors it and gives it a grounded feel.

✂️DOstamping Cutting Measurements
  • Card Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card base score/fold at 4-1/4″
  • Basic White: 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″
  • Coordinating Color Strips: 3/4″ x 4-1/2″ top, 1-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ bottom
  • Coordinating Colors/DSP: scraps for die cutting
  • Designer Series Paper (DSP): 1″ x 4-1/2″ – center

Here are three cards that beautifully showcase how a single sketch can blossom into a variety of distinct moods and messages through color, layering, and embellishments…

Warm & Welcoming

Festive & Cozy

Elegant & Somber

📝DOstamping Thoughts:
  • When playing with a sketch this this one, I like to reach for Stampin’ Up! Suite products.
  • Using a Suite helps guide color, focal point and embellishment choices…I call it the “easy button”!
💌 Suite Love:

💡DOstamping Tips:
  • On large bottom strip, stamp sentiment as shown, and adhere to white panel.
  • Then adhere top strip and center patterned paper strip to white panel.  Then adhere to folded card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Adhere focal point die cut and thread bow on left side of card.
  • Finish off with a triangle of embellishments.
    • Note: I used a Black .04 Stampin’ Journaling Pen (166647) to add centers to the Hues of Blue Flowers (let them sit overnight so they don’t smear).  Also used for the dove die cut eye.
