SSC038: Upsy Daisy Color Challenge

Today's DOstamperSTARS Thursday "Color My World" Challenge was a doosey for me.  We're to use the color combo Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait and Pacific Point.   The combo is a bit on the bright side for my tastes.  So it definitely was a challenge.

I decided to bring out a stamp set I haven't used in awhile…Stampin' Up!'s Upsy Daisy!  It's a great stamp set for beginners and experienced stampers alike.

You may have noticed that the flowers look a little "soft".  I thought they seemed too bright.  So I stamped and embossed the greeting on vellum, to use as an overlay.  Hmm…it may have toned it down too much.  Oh well.

Also – if you look even closer, you'll notice something going on with the flowers.  Do you know what I did?  There's a hint in my supply list.  Leave a comment if you know what I did or if you want to take a guess.

  1. You wiped the inked stamp with some kind of plastic glove or bag over your finger to make it streaked? And then stamped it?

  2. Okay, one more try. I just noticed the hint about the supply list. You used the dot, dot, dot stamp (dry) to take some of the ink off the floral image. Did I finally get it?

  3. Hi Dawn, You are so creative! I think you used the Dot, Dot, Dot stamp to create the “lines” on the stamped daisy image. I’m guessing you pressed the clean “dot” stamp to the inked vellum while still wet and drug the “dots” down the paper to make the lines.

  4. NO, let me revise that… you pressed the dot, dot , dot to the inked Upsy Daisy stamp and dragged it down the stamp before stamping onto the vellum.

  5. I figure it had to have something to do with the Dot, Dot, Dot and with that name I was wondering how it became stripe, stripe, stripe. Aha! I think Jane’s revised answer must be correct. It’s a lovely card and the subdued image color is appropriate to the message but does not clash with the brighter/happier colors…(imho, of course).

  6. Hi Dawn,
My guess is: you first inked the Upsy Daisy stamp with ink then kissed your stamp with either the Lattice texture embossing plate or the dot to dot stamp, then dragged the Upsy Daisy stamp to get the streaks before stampng on the vellum.

  7. Great card! I agree with dragging the uninked dot dot do down the inked up Upsy Daisy. I love stuff like that, and this one really came out very striking! Really makes it look like you did some uber fussy cutting from very pretty dsp.

  8. My guess – without looking above, is that you dragged the Dot Dot Dot stamp over your inked Upsy Daisy stamp. If so, or whatever you did – nice effect and very clever.

  9. You used the dot, dot, dot stamp to drag out the ink…..the picture looks like you ran it thru a crimper…..very cool….love it!!
